Whether you're a longtime resident or thinking about making North County your home, here's a look at what's happening and where to be in June 2026.

The headline event for the entire region is the San Diego County Fair, which returns to the Del Mar Fairgrounds from June 10 through July 5, with the theme "Once Upon A Fair" celebrating storytelling, books, and imagination. The Fair is open Wednesday through Sunday and closed Mondays and Tuesdays, making it the perfect mid-week or weekend destination for families across North County. Admission includes the nightly Chevrolet Paddock Concert Series featuring well-known acts and tribute bands, so you're genuinely getting a full day of entertainment from a single ticket. Del Mar is a short drive from anywhere in North County, and it's the kind of sprawling, joyful event that draws close to a million visitors over its run for good reason.

For a more local weekly ritual, the Oceanside Sunset Market, hosted by MainStreet Oceanside, is a weekly gathering combining a street fair, farmers market, entertainment venue, and fun family event, held every Thursday evening in downtown Oceanside. From 5 to 9 p.m., thousands of residents and visitors gather to enjoy hot food from around the world, gourmet goodies, eclectic shopping, and live entertainment on Pier View Way west of Coast Highway. If you haven't made it to Sunset Market yet, June is the perfect time to start — the energy downtown on a Thursday night is genuinely electric, and it gives you a real taste of what Oceanside's community has become.

Inland, the Escondido Certified Farmers Market runs every Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. to sunset on Juniper Street at Grand Avenue in downtown Escondido, offering fresh produce from local farms, local honey, baked goods, prepared foods, and handmade artisan goods. It's the kind of neighborhood market where you bump into people you know and leave with more than you planned — and it's a wonderful way to experience the warmth of downtown Escondido's community. The Vista Farmers Market runs on Saturdays, and the Poway Certified Farmers Market is held Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Midland Road near Old Poway Park, giving North County residents multiple weekly options to shop local and connect with neighbors.

June is also a great month for the arts. Encinitas has a thriving gallery and live music scene along the 101 corridor, and the community's love of outdoor events, beach walks, and café culture makes it one of the most enjoyable places to spend a weekend afternoon in all of North County. Carlsbad's Village continues to be a destination for dining, boutique shopping, and evening strolls, and with summer foot traffic picking up along the coast, the whole area takes on an energy that's hard to find anywhere else.
